Fort Evergreen

4th Jun 2025

On Tuesday 3rd June, 1st and 2nd class visited Fort Evergreen for our school tour. It was great fun.

First, we drove to Fort Evergreen in Warrenpoint. We ate a biscuit and drank some orange in the lunchroom. Next, we played in the soft play area. We searched for the big slide and finally found it. We were so excited.

Later, we walked over to the white, big tent and we mixed the goat milk. It was made from powdered milk and hot water. Ms. Neary carried the goat into the tent and we all got a chance to feed him with the bottle and he drank it so fast.

After that, we saw some animals. We petted rabbits, chicks and a tortoise. We also saw a snake, bearded dragon, ducks, chickens, an alpaca, pigs, hamsters and even a unicorn!! We felt a bit nervous touching them but it was fun to do.

Next, we ran over to the pedal tractors. We were riding them around the pen and the goats were watching us. We had to be careful because the goats tried to nibble us. Sometimes we bumped into each other because we were going so fast! After this, we ate our delicious lunch.

After our lunch, we visited the fort and played there. There were slides and swings. We played tag. There was a sand pit with lots of buckets and spades. It was amazing. Next, we saw the dinosaurs. They were gigantic and they moved and roared loudly. The two velociraptors were trying to escape from the cage. They were scary but cool! Then, we went into the dinosaur dig and we had to look for bones by brushing the sand away to reveal them.

Lastly, we planted green bean seeds in a cardboard pot. We decorated the pots with designs and filled them with soil to take them home. We were ready to go home but unfortunately, the bus broke down. We had another snack and played in the soft play area again. We were delighted to get a second chance to play there.

Finally, the new bus arrived and we travelled home and a few of us fell asleep. We had a fantastic day but we were exhausted and happy to be home!
