Music

Picture
Choir
Castletown Girls' School has always had a great history with music. Our school choir gets together to sing several times throughout the year. The choir sings at the First Communion and Confirmation ceremonies every Spring and Summer. Every second year we have a Christmas Pageant in St. Nicholas' Church, where we sing many well known Christmas carols.

Tin Whistle
Tin Whistle is the instrument that we have chosen to learn to play in our school. Every class from First to Sixth practise weekly. Anyone who has a special interest in playing music can then play tin whistle as part of the school band for special occasions.

Fiddle
Ms. Edel Duffy gives fiddle lessons to children from second class upwards. The lessons are held after school and all pupils who have an interest in music are encouraged to take part. Sixteen pupils availed of the lessons last year and those who are interested will perform at special occasions as they progress.

Tin whistle and Fiddle Feis
In June, Mary Dwyer visited our school to judge our yearly tin whistle and fiddle feis. The girls displayed great talent with both instruments and Mary found it very difficult to judge. Below are our winners of both the tin whistle and the fiddle feis. Congratulations girls!
